Vulnerable Podcast with James Roycroft-Davis
Here's to all the wives, husbands and partners of founders
There are many unsung heroes in the startup world.
But I don’t think anyone suffers as much as the partners of founders.
They handle all of the stress of the rollercoaster journey and get none of the credit when things go well.
My wife Miriam has been a hero throughout the ups and downs of my startup journey. From all nighters at the office to me leaving a 2 week holiday after the first day (!) she’s always been a patient and supportive presence. Therapist, cheerleader, coach, consigliere - she’s dealt with countless crises alongside me over the years.
I recently recorded a podcast with James Roycroft-Davis. In it we discussed the role our partners have played in supporting us on our journeys.
We also discussed the importance of culture, hiring processes and how to keep yourself in a strong place mentally and physically on the startup journey.
It’s probably the most open I’ve been on a podcast.
2 minutes before we started recording James told me he had stepped-down as CEO of his own startup that morning. A worthwhile listen.
